When initiating new projects we often specify a Citect version to be used early on in the process knowing full well that major projects can take 6-Months to a year to go from concept to commissioning. If during the development AVEVA releases a new version we need to make the decision to either stop development upgrade to the new version or continue with the older release.
It would be useful to be able to access pre-release versions of the next release so that we can specify that version early on. All development would be done with the pre-release version and then commissioning would use the released version.

Idea business value
This would allow us to maximize the support period for our clients, and we can go straight to the new version once it's released with some confidence and experience in using the latest release. It would also allow AVEVA to get early feedback on new features and additional help in identifying bugs. |
